| After all the fun of last week and Spring Break this week has been a fucking bore. Started going back to classes on Monday... oh joy. (insert extreme sarcasm here) Anyway, not too much has gone on this week. About the only thing I did all week that was remotely interesting was competed in the Knowledge Bowl on Thursday. I first heard about this in my American History class when my professor offered anyone who competed 2 points extra credit on the next test. On top of this cash prizes were going to be awarded to the top teams. This is all it took to motivate myself and two other guys who sit by me (Zack and Jethro) to form a team. We went in on Thursday not really knowing what we were getting into... we found out the Knowledge Bowl was a multiple choice question session divided into 3 rounds with 13 questions each for a total of 39 points. It also wound up being on Women's History, a topic none of us really knew squat about. We wound up getting 14 right and got 6th or 7th place which isn't too bad considering we pulled about 75% of our answers straight out of our asses. The shitty thing was we missed the last cash prize ($20 bucks, top prize was $60) by 2 questions... isn't that a bitch? On the plus side my teammates both won door prizes and we got free cookies and Cool-Aid, so overall it actually was a decent ordeal. About the only other thing I've done all week is research Magic cards because for some odd reason I've got a compulsive urge to buy up a bunch of cards and play again. I've spent a ton of time at CardShark and AnyCraze researching cards and prices for new deck ideas, and also for current deck improvements. Using the two sites in conjunction works well... Anycraze has a great search engine and CardShark has the good prices. So far I've come up with one good deck idea and found several cards to supplement current decks. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until summer to buy these cards because I'm one broke motherfucker right now. On another little tangent my Beretta's nitrous plans have been scrapped for now because the goddamned paint is chipping off of the driver's side like a dirty bastard!!! I had about $500 of the $650 I needed saved up for the nitrous kit and installation, but an estimate on my paint is ~$350-$500 bucks which blows the nitrous all to hell. That kind of has me pissed off, but what can you do? I'm not going to let my car rust away and fall apart anytime soon. Oh yeah, I also finally called up the hotel in Memphis and got my room booked for BerettaFest2002. Spendy bastard... $285 for 4 days, but I know it'll be worth it. Damn, guess I had more to talk about here than I thought. |
