Hmm... what to say? I have a few newsbits. The most important is about William's accident. I still don't know all of the details, but he got his arm caught in something working at the grain elevator. The result was that he broke it in several places and had to get plates put in it. I was going to head home tonight to see him in the hospital, but mom told me he was home last night so I decided to hold off since I'll be back next week anyway.
Finals start this week... I just delivered my final project, which was a group effort in my Honors class. I only have to get a 20 out of 70 or so to get a B, so I have nothing to worry about there... I'm guessing we'll get a 50 or so. If we do get a 50, I'll have an A, which'll be just gravy. Anyway, tomorrow is a study day so they'res no classes then finals go from this Friday until next Thursday. I have one every day from Monday till Thursday. Dad's coming up to help me move out, but we'll spend a day with Brent shooting and fishing so I'll probably be home either Sunday or Monday... which is the 20th or 21st.
My big news for today is that I got a new gun... yep, another one. I put this one on layaway on Monday... since classes are done today I sold all my books back to the school and picked up my brand spanking new Norenco 12 guage coach gun. It's a sweet ass little double barreled shotgun... the barrels are only 19 inches. It's also a very safe gun... it has a tang trigger safety, a cross block pin safety, and rebounding hammers. It's the first gun I've ever seen that has 3 safetys, and I doubt many more are out there. I'm a real certified redneck now since I have a short double barrel to prove it!!! Now all I need is a mullet, but that isn't happening! Anyway, I took it out and shot 14 rounds through it today; I didn't stay long because the weather is so shitty. Man, from close range this thing is NASTY! I blew a hole in a piece of 1/2 inch Norboard nearly big enough to fit my hand through from 10 paces. Oh yeah, and that was with dinky little # 7 1/2 shot too!!! I thought about firing off both barrels at once, but didn't since I figured it would kick like a bastard. Another thing about this gun is that it happens to be the loudest gun I've ever shot; those short little barrels sure are noisy! This should be an awesome gun for anything within 25 yards or so... after that it throws too wide of a spread to kill much because the barrels are so short. I think it's an awesome 1st shotgun!
Let me backtrack a bit... I went out shooting before I gave that presentation. After the presentation I went out and showed Brent my new gun, and ate some food too. We also worked on my powder horn for a little while. It's shaping up nicely, but there's still quite a bit of work to be done on it. I'll probably go back out tomorrow and try to get some more done on it; I should be able to complete it by the end of this weekend.
After that I just came home, called up dad and told him about the gun as I was working on the site and reading Matthew's journal entry for the day. He got a new gun too, and a very nice one at that. Can't go wrong with a Winchester Model 70, especially in a good caliber like 7 Mag. It's good for anything from antelope all the way up to Moose... you can't beat that with a fuckin' club!
That's about it for this one.
