William is one lucky bastard, I must say. Not only did his late grandpa give him a 1975 BMW 900 motorcycle, but he also have
him this 1968 AMX. He bought this car in the early 80's with the intention of restoring it, but his health declined and he was
unable to finish. After that it sat outside for about 10 years just waiting for a whole shitload of TLC... cause believe me this thing
is in dire need of it.
It's a 1968 AMC (American Motors Xperimental) that is currently a shitty primer brown. The original color, which William intends
on painting it, is scarb gold metallic. Personally I think it's a horrid color, but it is fairly rare, which is why he respray it the
original color.
As he's worked on it, William has discovered that this AMX is actually mix of 68-70 parts on it. It must have either had serious
rust issues or been in a wreck because pretty much one entire side is not original body. As of right now it has the standard AMC
390 engine which put out 315hp/425ft/lb torque in stock form. This one isn't stock though, so it's probably in the 350hp range. It
has some issues though, the cam and distributor gears are flattened out so it won't hold time. This matters little to William
though since he's going to build a 401 for it from a block he bought from a guy in Minnesota back in 2004. The rest of the
driveline consists of Borg Warner 3 speed automatic and a 3.15 geared posi rear end.
This project has sat dormant for quite a few years now since William has gotten sidetracked on his off road projects. As it
stands it has a completely new supsension system and a fully restored brake system. It still needs electrical, interior, body,
and engine work though, so there's a lot left to be done.
I'll update the page again as needed once he gets back on track with the restoration.
