Back in 2001 Jason bought a 1987 Jeep Wrangler for $2000. It was actually in pretty good shape except for the engine, which
was knocking pretty hard. So, he had a brand new 2.5L 4 cylinder built by CJ Racing Engines... total bottom up rebuild off a
junkyard block to the point now where his 4 cylinder has as nearly as much power as the 4.0L did stock for that year (it had
165hp in 1987).
After that he finished it off with a 2 inch lift and a 32X11.5 R15 tires on a sweet set of American Racing rims. He also installed a
completely new stereo system complete with cab speakers, 3 amps, a deck, and 2 12" subs.
In May '02 Jason traded this Jeep off for a 1987 Samurai and a fat wad of cash from a guy from work. I bought the Samurai off
of him in the summer of 2002, and he wound up using the cash to do some work to Brown.
Jason bought this 89 Mustang in the fall of 2002 for a pretty good price, especially considering the amount of money that had
been dropped into the engine. The 5.0 in it had been completely rebuilt; bored .030 with mild mod internals. It also had a
brand new set of headers running into a Flowmaster 40 dual exhaust system.
The 5.0 was mated to a 5 speed stick... it's wasn't too bad, not slow, but not super quick either. He finally wound up going to the
track in the summer of '02 with it and got a 14.8 out of it with a very soft launch and no drag racing experience. I'd say was
probably capable of low 14s with good tires and some practice at the track.
He wound up selling the 'Stang back in 2004 and used the money to buy a newer Dodge 2500 4x4 truck.
