Mike is a guy I met through when I was working at the hospital back in high school. He got into Magic: The Gathering and most of us who played wound up over at his house quite a bit for long evenings of playing. Mike once hosted a tournament at the Fire Hall in Goodland in July of 2003. It was an Oddysey/Legions sealed deck tournament that had 12 competitors. My brother won it when he beat me in the final round.
One of the more memorable things involving Mike is the time I wrecked my motorcycle a couple blocks from his house and had to use his phone to call mom to come pick me up. Mike's nickname for me is "The Artifact" since I don't play with any Magic cards past Stronghold (which were printed in 1998). He says the new cards are better, but I still manage to whip his ass pretty frequently when we play and he knows it. So much for the "newer is better" line of thought eh?
I haven't seen Mike in quite a while now; every time I go over to his place he hasn't been around. I do know he's happily employed down in Lafayette, since he got shafted by the hospital just like most people who work there long enough do.
