Tracker 1" Coil Block Lift (Oct 2006-Jan 2007)
|
Well, this coil block lift kit from Rocky Road Outfitters should have been a relatively easy mod, but it wound up being a real pain
in the ass because of rust and the lack of the right tools to finish the job. The rear blocks went on relatively easy, and Jake
upgraded the rear shocks to a set of ProComp ES3000s since the stock shocks were completely shot too. It was the front end
that became a problem because one of the bolts through the A-arm twisted off in the bushing and we didn't have a torch to cut
it out. William's torch was out of gas, so the Tracker wound up sitting in the garage for over a month until we finally borrowed a
torch. After that, with William's torch know-how the front end was all finished within a night and the lift was complete. The
blocks also required a bit of trimming for the front end, which I found rather annoying. If you're going to pay $42 for two pieces
of poly you'd expect that they would be made to the right dimension, but they were a bit tight. Still, it's hard to beat 1.25" of lift for
84 bucks (plus shipping so about $100). We also took out the front sway bar while we were under there, which gave the little
thing a considerable gain in articulation.
Well worth the money, I just recommend that anyone who tries to do these has a torch and a lot of patience if the Tracker has
much rust.

Taking the rear springs out was pretty easy
Rear blocks installed; notice the difference between the rear and front height?
This is where we ran into trouble.
